Part 4: Midterm Elections

Every two years, the United States holds elections for seats in the United States Congress.

The elections in the middle of a president’s term are called midterm elections – and they have the power to re-shape the political landscape.

In this section, you will learn about what is at stake in a midterm election year. You will read about Capitol Hill and Congress, the House, the Senate and about how laws are passed. You will understand how the US Congress holds the power to support, oppose and even ‘fire’ a president.
