Definition
A
dictionary
is, in its simplest definition, an alphabetically organised list of words.
Each word has a separate explanation, translation or other relevant information.
You probably already know that English is not just English.
There are
many variations of English
, like: American English, British English, Australian English, Indian English and so on. These variations are very much alike, but they each have aspects that make them unique and recognisable.
Usually, when you learn English in Danish schools, you have to
decide
whether you want to use British English or American English.
Sometimes, however, it can be hard to remember if the word you want to use is ‘elevator’ or ‘lift’.
The dictionaries in this section will help you find the word you need – in the right English variation.
